Michael Jordan Donates $7 Million To Build Medical Clinics

Former NBA star Michael Jordan has donated $7 million to fund two Novant Health Michael Jordan Family Clinics that will serve at-risk communities in Charlotte, North Carolina.

“Through my years of working with Novant Health, I have been impressed with their approach and their commitment to the community,” Jordan says in a release shared on Monday.

“It is my hope that these clinics will help provide a brighter and healthier future for the children and families they serve.”

According to the AP, the clinics have the potential to decrease emergency room utilization by 68 percent and to decrease hospitalization by 37 percent for residents in the targeted low-income neighborhoods.

They are projected to open in 2020.

In the past, Jordan has donated $1 million each to the International Association of Chiefs of Police's newly established Institute for Community-Police Relations and the NAACP Legal Defense.
