Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center and the Beaverton School District will be co-hosting a community vaccination event this Friday, November 12 from 2 p.m. - 6 p.m. at Aloha-Huber Park K-8 in in Beaverton. The event will be open to anyone in the community 5 years and older.

“We are thrilled that our youngest students will now have the opportunity to get the same vaccine protection that's been afforded to the rest of the community,” says Carl Mead, Deputy Superintendent for the Beaverton School District. "It's the most important way of mitigating the spread of COVID-19 and ensuring that students can continue to attend school in person."

The partnership with the Beaverton School District is one of many ways that Virginia Garcia is working to ensure access to as many vaccination resources as possible. Each primary care clinic at Virginia Garcia is also offering vaccination walk-in hours and the mobile clinic will be setting up at the school-based health centers around Washington and Yamhill counties over the next several weeks.

“We are very excited to be partnering with the Beaverton School District to offer the COVID-19 vaccine to the community," said Gil MuÃąoz, CEO for Virginia Garcia. “With the vaccine finally available to all school-age children it is critical that we reduce the barriers that keep our families from being vaccinated as soon as possible.”

Washington County Public Health will also be on site during the event providing support.

“Providing vaccinations for younger kids will help to keep schools open and kids learning. These vaccinations will also reassure parents that they are doing all they can to protect their entire family,” said Marni Kuyl, Washington County Health & Human Services director.
