Miller Paint Returns To Deliveries

Business owners are coping with the COVID-19 pandemic in a number of ways, coming up with creative measures to stay afloat. One local company is turning back the clock––130 years––to remain relevant in this uncertain time.

Miller Paint got its start in 1890, when founder Ernest Miller started making paint formulated for the rainy Pacific Northwest climate in a barn in NE Portland. Back then, he would deliver house paint to customers around the city in a horse-drawn carriage. Starting today, Miller Paint is starting home delivery once again, albeit by truck rather than horse this time around.

“Paint and color can create a sense of optimism, providing a bright spot in people's lives, now more than ever,” explained Steve Dearborn, CEO of Miller Paint. “Spring is normally the time when people are inspired to paint. We want to help our customers get the products they need for their projects as safely as possible, which is why we are launching our no contact home delivery service.”

Customers can choose color via a virtual fan deck or download the Miller Pro Paint app, ask a color question at color@millerpaint.com, or schedule a virtual color consultation with a design professional. Then customers can call in orders to their closest Miller Paint store to receive complimentary next day delivery for orders over $50 within 10 miles of the store. The order will be placed on the porch and the driver will text the customer upon delivery. Miller Paint has 56 stores throughout Oregon, Washington, and Idaho.

Miller Paint is also taking its popular Ask a Designer program, usually held the first Saturday of each month at participating locations, out of the store and onto Facebook Live where professional designers will share tips on color on Miller’s Facebook page. Folks can tune in this Saturday, April 4, at 10 a.m. to learn about the trending colors for front doors.
