Oregon Food Bank Helps Federal Workers

The Oregon Food Bank is helping federal employees who are out of work as a result of the partial government shutdown.

Oregon Senator Ron Wyden and Representatives Earl Blumenauer and Suzanne Bonamici went to the Food Bank on Friday to talk about the impact on more than 800,000 people affected by the shutdown.

Senator Wyden said, "We've got families from Portland, to Prineville, Albany to Astoria walking on an economic tight rope."

Suzanna Morgan, CEO of the Oregon Food Bank says, "We, at the Oregon Food Bank, find it utterly unconscionable that the actions of this administration are increasing hunger in Oregon and the United States."

Federal workers who are furloughed are encouraged to contact the Oregon Food Bank.
