Vegan Billboard Honors Cows

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals has bought space on a billboard near Madras, Oregon where 14 cows were killed in a crash on Highway 26.

"More than a dozen gentle cows died after this trailer overturned, and those who survived likely ended up under the slaughterhouse knife," says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. "PETA's billboard urges motorists to prevent animals from needlessly suffering by choosing compassionate vegan meals."

The billboard has been rented for one month.

PETA has taken similar action following cattle truck crashes in Louisiana and Tennessee.
