We could not be more excited to have the one and only Megan Thee Stallion joining us for her first-ever interview on #MostRequestedLive this weekend! We got Megan to answer some fan questions via Zoom, ranging from how she's handled being quarantined to landing a collaboration with one of her idols (and fellow Houstonian), Beyoncé. Check out the highlights and then listen to the full interview below!
On how being stuck inside has affected her during the pandemic:
"Honestly, I'm not really mad about quarantine. I've been able to get so much work done. I've been writing music, and I've been able to reinstate mentally. Not spending so much time around so many people allows me to get my own energy back together. I'm real zen over here."
On how it feels to have one of the biggest songs in the world right now:
"It's just really insane, because, just thinking of where I started from, literally last year... I've been rapping, writing for a while. As soon as the world knew I could rap, people started knowing me, but then when it got mainstream was like, last year. So that I would consider being year one, my start. I did so many things, and in the moment, it didn't feel like I was doing enough. But then when I look back on everything that we I did, I'm like, 'Oh my god!'"
On how she felt when she found out Beyoncé wanted to do the "Savage" Remix:
"It's nothing that I can even put into words. I remember going to the rodeo when I was little, and this was the year Destiny's Child performed. I remember looking at Beyoncé, and I was like, 'This is so crazy!' I was really sold ever since then. So then I literally kept up with everything Beyoncé was doing. She's from Third Ward, I'm from South Park, that's basically right up the street from each other. Anytime anybody would ask, 'Who do you wanna do a song with? Who is your dream collab?' I would be like 'Beyoncé. Beyoncé. Beyoncé.' Finally I got it, and I was like... 'AAAAAAAHHH!'"
On the TV show "Legendary" that she's slated to be on:
"'Legendary' is a show about ballroom. The ballroom culture is not something that was super mainstream. I feel like a lot of people didn't even know what ballroom was until they started watching 'Pose.' So, when the opportunity was presented to me to be on the show, I did my homework, I did my research, I was like, 'Yes!' It made me want to be a better performer. It made me not wanna do anything halfway ever again in life... I was super inspired. You will really get to see people who are passionate about their work, and it's really gonna come across when you see everybody perform."
