Big Brothers Contestants In Germany Find Out About Coronavirus

Germany has been broadcasting their most current season of reality show Big Brother since February 10th, which is when Coronavirus was mostly only found in China.

If you aren't aware of the premise of the show, the main point of Big Brother is that a group of people go into a house together while competing for a cash prize, without having any access to the outside world, including what is going on with the news.

On March 17th they decided to give the houseguests the news of what had been going on in the world. Host Jochen Schropp told them that COVID-19 had been spreading across the world, and had reached Europe. The cast had different reactions to the news with some breaking down in tears, while others wanted to know how it was effecting the world and economy. The remaining cast members were then given video notes from their family and friends.

Producers for the show explained that "all current productions were informed last week that the usual format rules regarding outside news do not apply in this instance, and it was requested that they inform their respective housemates of the evolving situation regarding COVID-19. The majority of housemates have already been briefed, and this process will be complete today [March 17]," according to MSN entertainment.
