New 2020 National Parks Quarter To Feature Bats

Back in 2010 the United States Mint started their "America The Beautiful Quarters Program," which releases five new quarters each year.

Many people are avid collectors of the quarters, with myself even having one from every state!

The National Park Samoa quarter will be released on February 3rd, and will feature a mother Samoan bat and her young pup. According to Nerdist, the designer of this quarter, Richard Marsters, said that he chose the fruit bat to "promote awareness of the species' threatened status due to habitat loss and commercial hunting."

Other animals to be featured on money previously have been the egret, night heron and red tailed hawk.
