According to the Oregonian, Kennedy Elementary School fifth-graders were forced to sign a bizarre written contract that prevented the students from discussing dating.
The contract, strong-armed upon the elementary school children, required students to "refrain from discussing dating, boyfriends, girlfriends, and any related matters at school."
The contract further stipulated that this "includes talking, gossiping, spreading rumors, writing and passing notes, daring others to date, playing games around dating, and anything else related to dating."
Parents were not notified of the move by school administrators.
According to the Oregonian, Salem-Keizer School District spokesperson Lillian Govus explained that contract is "no longer being enforced" and may have "missed the mark."
