A wire theft contributed to a fatal motorcycle crash earlier this month in northeast Portland.
The wire theft caused the traffic signals at I-205 and Northeast Airport Way to go dark.
52-year-old James Goldsmith was riding a motorcycle on Airport Way and didn't stop at the intersection.
Police believe other vehicles that were stopped prevented Goldsmith from seeing a semi that was turning from the I-205 exit and they collided.
Goldsmith was taken to a hospital where he later died. Police are asking for tips to identify the person who stolen the wire.
