Suspect Escapes Through Hospital Ceiling

The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) is seeking the public’s help in locating 24-year old Sabrina Cox, of North Portland.

On Monday, December 18, Cox was transported to the Multnomah County jail following a court hearing at the Multnomah County Courthouse for aggravated identity theft. Before the booking process was complete, Corrections Health determined she needed further medical evaluation. Cox was transported to the Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) by ambulance in the custody of a deputy.

At the hospital, shortly after 4 p.m., she entered a single-user restroom. It was discovered, she removed a ceiling tile while in the restroom and climbed into the ceiling space. Cox crawled a distance and lowered herself into another room. At some point during the event, Cox defeated her restraints. It was also discovered that Cox changed her appearance and walked out of the hospital undetected.

The deputy notified OHSU staff and MCSO operations of her escape. Since her disappearance, MCSO has been actively searching for Cox. If the public has any information on her whereabouts, call 911.

Cox is approximately 5’ 4”, 125 pounds and has blonde hair and blue eyes. She has a scar on a left wrist. Cox is associated with the North Portland and Battle Ground, Washington areas. Cox is not believed to be a public safety risk.

Attached to this press release is Cox’s most recent booking photo. The release of the booking photo is for law enforcement purposes and is in accordance with MCSO Policy 1225 and Oregon House Bill 3273.
