Disneyland is closing in response to the coronavirus. It has only closed 3 times since its opening: For a national day of mourning after President Kennedy's assassination in 1963, after the Northridge Earthquake in 1994, and after the Sept. 11 attacks.
Latest U.S. Coronavirus Numbers The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the U.S. increased by nearly 300 since the last count, according to the CDC. As of Thursday afternoon, 1,264 cases had been confirmed in the U.S., with a death toll of 36. Those numbers include cases in 42 states and the District of Columbia. New York, Washington, California, and Massachussetts have reported the most cases so far. Globally, the number of confirmed cases is up to 125,000, with a death toll of more than 4,600. The CDC is posting an updated U.S. count to its website cdc.gov every weekday at noon. Why did the coronavirus panic seem to kick into overdrive this week? Are we overreacting? Or still not taking it seriously enough?
