Man Who Helped Launch "Ice Bucket Challenge" Dies

Ice bucket challenge inspiration dies The inspiration behind the ice buck challenge has passed away. The 2014 viral sensation, in which participants dumped buckets of ice water on themselves, then make a donation and challenge others, raised more than $115 million for ALS research. Peter Frates had been a standout baseball player at Boston College. He was diagnosed with the disease about six years later.
