After Taylor Swift called on fans to help get the message to Scooter Braun and her former Big Label Music Group, executive Scott Borchetta that refusing to allow her to perform her old hits at the AMAs was wrong, Halsey is lending her support to the “Lover” singer. “Not only are we looking at an awful business move…but this is just mean. This is punishment. This is hoping to silence her from speaking about things by dangling this over her head,” Halsey wrote on her Instagram stories. “These people are protected because they inspire complicity with fear. Banking on the illusion that people will not stand up for her,” says Halsey. “You’re barking up the wrong tree. It is her grace and patience in these moments that make her Artist of the Decade.” A change.org petition has been started by Jade Rossi, who is a “Swiftie.” The petition has raised 500,000 signatures so far and calls for Braun and Borchetta to allow Taylor to sing her older material at the upcoming award show.
ORIGINAL STORY:
Taylor Swift is hoping her fans can help her in the dispute between her and her former label, Big Machine Label Group. Swift took to Twitter to tell her side of the ongoing drama she faces. “Don’t know what else to do...right now, my performance at the AMA’s, the Netflix documentary and any other recorded events I am planning to play until November 2020 are a question mark. I’ve tried to work this out privately through my team but have not been able to resolve anything.” Swift tweeted that “tyrannical” music managers Scooter Braun and Scott Borchetta are preventing her from performing her old music because that would be "re-recording" the music before she's allowed to in 2020. Swift says the message she’s being set is "loud and clear, basically, be a good little girl and shut up. Or you’ll be punished. This is WRONG…” Swift is pleading with fans to “let Braun and Borchetta know how you feel about this.” Do you think Taylor Swift should be able to perform songs from her earlier albums at the AMAs? Do you believe that Taylor is being "bullied?"
