Fans almost got an entirely different version of Ariana Grande's hit song "thank u, next."Grande talked about everything having to do with the single in an interview with the "Zach Sang Show" on Saturday, (BOTTOM VIDEO) and the singer dropped some major details about what could have been.Turns out, there were three versions of her single. Scroll to 12:00.On one of the versions of the song, she said she didn't mention any names in the opening verse.
"It still was like, OK, I'm embracing my mistakes and what I've done... but it was just less direct," she said. "And everyone, including me, was kind of like, 'this is not the version.' But I was also trying to be protective, you know?"
The second version of the song, however, was made in a tumultuous time in her relationship with former fiance Pete Davidson.
"In my relationship at the time, things were up and down and on and off, and so I didn't know what was gonna happen," Grande said. "And then we got back together, so I had to make a different version of it, and then we broke up again, so we ended up going with that version."
