Ariana Grande Apologizes For '7 Rings' Lyrics

7 Rings Music Video

It's no secret that Ariana Grande has been on a career high, with the release of her previous single, thank u, next, securing her her very first #1 on Billboard's Hot 100. The song also achieved record breaking streaming numbers across multiple platforms.

Now her newest single, 7 Rings, is causing some backlash. As soon as the single dropped, some Twitter users expressed concern over the use of Asian language in her video and cover art.

The latest controversy around the song comes from the lyrics

I want it, I got it, I want it, I got it

I want it, I got it, I want it, I got it

You like my hair?

Gee, thanks, just bought it

I see it, I like it, I want it, I got it (Yep)

The lyric in question is "you like my hair? Gee thanks, just bought it."

After the release of the single, Grande re posted a screenshot about the lyrics, claiming to be "thankful" to the original poster. Then later deleting the story after causing some fans to be upset.

In what The Shade Room has dubbed as a "post and delete," TSR explains that the Instagram story had some fans upset.

After TSR posted the screenshot, Ariana came out of the darkness to apologize and explain the lyrics behind it.
