Mandarin Duck Appears In New York City

Mandarin ducks are native to East Asia, and should not be habitating a pond in Central Park. The New York Times reported that the duck was spotted in the southeast corner of Central Park. The duck has now been spotted all over the city, but no one can figure out where the animal came from. Mandarin ducks are native to China and Japan and are not meant to be living in the United States.

Bird enthusiasts are still trying to pinpoint how the duck made it into Manhattan in the first place.
