It's Hot! Keep An Eye Out For Animals Locked In Cars

posted by Maui -

It's going to be a very warm week here in the NW! As hot as it is outside, it will get even hotter inside of a car. Believe it not, many people leave their pets, or even kids in a car in this heat. Even if it's "just a few minutes to grab a coffee".

A study by the Animal Protection Institute showed that even moderately warm temperatures outside can quickly lead to deadly temperatures inside a car. The average rise is 19 degrees at 10 minutes, 29 degrees at 20 minutes, 34 degrees at 30 minutes, and it keeps going up.

IF YOU SEE ANY ANIMAL UNATTENDED IN A VEHICLE WHEN THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE IS OVER 72 DEGREES, OR IN DISTRESS AT ANY TIME, CALL 9-1-1

Check out the 2nd video below about a social experiment someone did; leaving a fake pet inside a hot car to see if anyone notices, or tries to save the animal.
