Johnson & Johnson To Pay $2.1 Billion In Baby Powder Lawsuit

Johnson & Johnson will be paying out $2.1 billion to women who claim the company's baby powder gave them cancer. The case dates back to 2018, when a jury ruled that J&J's talc-based powder contained asbestos that may have contributed to ovarian cancer in 20 women. On Tuesday, the Supreme Court declined to hear J&J's appeal, meaning the $2.1 billion verdict stands.  Johnson & Johnson says it stopped selling the baby powder product last year. The company still faces more than 20,000 lawsuits over its talc products.

Should this payout have been held up for two years? Is $2.1 billion a sufficient penalty?
