Monday morning, drivers on I-84 started calling 911 with reports of a man with a gun trying to carjack vehicles on I-84 near 122nd Avenue.

When police arrived, 27-year-old Denorris McLendon pointed his gun at officers and ran into traffic. An officer fired and hit McLendon.  He kept running and collapsed near 112th and Northeast Fremont. 

McLendon said he wanted officers to shoot him.  SERT was called and they used an armored vehicle to approach McLendon and take him into custody.

The was treated at a hospital for a non-life threatening injury and arrested on several charges.
